An Unmedicated Hospital Birth Film Story at Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women

I was so excited to have the opportunity to work with these first-time parents. Mom was planning an unmedicated birth and hired doula, Latina Baxter with Marley & Moo, to help her support her with her birth plan.

I was called out to join them on their labor journey in the wee hours of the morning. Mom worked patiently and beautifully through her labor. By morning, we were close. To help her with guiding her baby further down, we set up a birthing bar across her hospital bed and her doula tied a rebozo to it. During contractions, mom would curl around her belly and pull against the rebozo. The nurse was close by as we watched for sign of baby’s appearance. Mom quietly continued this process and before long, I looked down and noticed the top of baby’s head. She was crowning. Without an epidural, there was no time to call the birth team in. Her nurse came over just in time to catch her sweet baby.

Faye came out with most intense sucking reflex I have ever witnessed before. Doesn’t she have the sweetest face? Please enjoy watching their beautiful birth film story.
